Our goal is simple: make Teamhood the top Kanban solution out there. So, what does it take to make that happen? Let’s talk about what we’ve been up to with Teamhood.

Kanban 2.0 with Enhanced Visuals: Color Rows, Statuses, and Items

In Kanban 2.0, we have introduced a strategic use of colors and labels. Now you can give your Kanban board a fresh new look with vibrant colors! Want to see your workflow in a whole new way? Try changing the colors of:

  • 🌈 Rows: Differentiate tasks and sections with distinct row colors.
  • 🟢 Statuses: Easily identify task statuses with a spectrum of colors.
  • 📦 Items: Highlight specific items to make them stand out.

This isn’t just about making the board visually appealing. Colors and labels play a crucial role in categorization and prioritization, allowing team members to swiftly identify task statuses and urgent items. This visual shorthand simplifies the process of managing complex workflows.

Simplify complex workflows with a coloring option

By assigning colors to different categories, such as ticket priorities (e.g., high, medium, low), you streamline visual cues for your team. This method enhances focus and efficiency in managing tasks effectively.

Example:

In a product development board, you can use one color for upstream processes (planning, prioritization) and another for downstream processes (development, testing). This helps teams quickly identify their responsibilities.

Tips:

  • Avoid mixing colored rows and colored statuses in one board to prevent visual overload.
  • Use custom views and filtering to focus on specific processes.

At its core, a Kanban board is a visual communication tool. Kanban 2.0 elevates this aspect, fostering better collaboration and communication among team members. Providing a clear visual representation of the workflow helps bridge gaps and synchronize efforts across teams.

WIP Limits for Status Groups

Productivity buffs love to talk about how important it is to limit what you’re working on. When you don’t take on too much at once, you can focus better and get more done. The new Kanban method is all about this idea. It helps teams zero in on what’s important and get more stuff done.

With that in mind, we’ve introduced the ability to set WIP (Work In Progress) limits for status groups. This new option allows you to decide whether to apply limits to individual statuses or their groups, making it way easier to get stuff done!

Status group WIP limits

How to Set WIP Limits:

  • Go to the action menu of your board, select settings, and set your desired WIP limit.
  • Limits can be set for individual statuses, status groups, and rows.

“Time in Status” Layer

With Kanban 2.0’s upgrade, you now have “Time in status” tracking. It shows you how long a card has been in the Kanban board overall and specifically in each status.

For example, a demo request created two days ago that moved to “work in progress” one day ago indicates a higher priority compared to another request that has been in this status for a longer period. This feature allows you to prioritize tasks effectively based on the duration they spend in each status.

Here is how you can enable the status layer on Teamhood:

time in status

Take advantage of built-in reporting capabilities in your Kanban board to track item progress:

  • Estimated vs. tracked time
  • Forecasted completion time
  • Item age
  • Time in status: See how long an item has been in a specific status to prioritize tasks effectively.

If coloring content or viewing layers isn’t enough, use external reporting options:
