Customization in Teamhood

Teamhood offers several ways for customizing your experience. Create custom processes, fields, views, and more to make sure everything you need is ready to go.

Custom work item fields

Create custom field

One of the most powerful and unique features of Teamhood is the option to create custom fields for your work items. On top of the extensive work item details, you can create your own fields and store any additional information necessary for your projects.

Settings custom fields

To create and manage custom fields, navigate to your ‘Settings’. Here, you will be able to choose what type of custom field you want to create. The options are:

  • Text – to write in additional information like departmet, client.
  • Number – to specify numeric fields, such as phone, order number.
  • Checkbox – to simply add a checkmark next to your work item.
  • Dropdown – provides a dropdown menu of predefined options to choose from.

The custom fields will be shown for all task boards in the workspace. You will automatically see the custom fields in the work item details. If you want to see them in List, Kanban, or Gantt views, choose so in the ‘Fields’ dropdown in the upper right corner.

Tips:

  1. You create custom field for each workspace separately. If you are moving items between workspaces and you would like to keep custom field values, just create custom fields with same titles and Teamhood will auto-match it.
  2. Custom fields are not saved as part of workspace templates.
  3. We do not have ability to mass-copy custom field values if you need to migrate data from one field to another. Take this into account before creating too many fields which can become redundant.
  4. Custom field values are not stored in item templates

Custom work item tags

The next Teamhood customization feature comes in the form of Tags. This is an automatic work item field that allows you to easily categorize your items. Work item tags can be created and managed from the ‘Settings’ and are defined for the entire workspace. Once the tags are defined, you can use them as a filter on the workspace views.

Filter by tag

Tags can be assigned to the work items right from the List, Kanban, and Gantt views or in the work item details. Moreover, when in Kanban view, you can choose to replace rows and instead group your items by tag. Allowing you to see the work items split in a new way.

Tips:

  1. You create tags for each workspace separately. If you move items between workspaces and tag in destination workspace does not exist – it will be automatically created and item will preserve tag assignment.

Custom boards

Another level of customization is available for your Teamhood views. As mentioned before, you can pick and choose which fields to display in each of your views – List, Kanban, and Gantt. You will be able to choose from all the native Teamhood work item fields as well as any of the custom fields you have added to the workspace.

Board Workflow

For the Kanban view, there is an additional level of customization – customizing the workflow. Here, you can change everything – rows, columns, and subcolumns to create a process that reflects what your team does on the daily basis. This customization feature can be found in ‘Board settings’.

Work item grouping

You can use Filter, Sorting, Grouping, and Field selection controls in every board to configure how you see the project and task data. Grouping is especially useful when you want to switch from work focus to people focus like in the example below:

Custom dashboards

Lastly, Teamhood allows you to create any number of personalized dashboards to easily track any of the project information. The Dashboard is composed of widgets, that can report workspace information as well as embed documents and videos from outside sources.

Here are the widgets you can add to the custom dashboard:

1 – Item List

Use this to create a list of specific items from your workspace. You can pick and choose which items will be displayed here by filtering the items in your workspace.

2 – Progress Chart

This will show you a progress chart for one of the four metrics – number of items, estimation hours, estimation points, or budget. The chart will divide your chosen data based on the status – planned, in progress, and done.

3 – Sum Value

This will show you the sum value of the chosen items. The sum value can be for 1 of the 4 metrics – number of items, estimation hours, estimation points, or budget.

4 -Embed

Lastly, you can embed content from other sources right into your Teamhood dashboard. Such as Youtube, Google Sheets, and others.

This allows for the Dashboard to be utilized to report on a specific project, department, team, or even to create a small database to hold important information. This versatile view is for you to create what’s needed and help your team perform.
