10 Best Teamhood Alternatives

1. Wrike

wrike-review
Wrike dashboard

Capterra score: 4.3/5⭐⭐⭐⭐

Price: $24.80 user/month

Wrike’s features streamline workflow and transition to a more natural work rhythm, for instance, when compared to Monday.com. It keeps everyone on top of their tasks, and that’s not all!

With Wrike, you can visualize your team’s workflow using the Kanban view and customize it by employing statuses (columns). It’s recommended to represent each process step with a distinct status. Additionally, Wrike allows you to maintain control over the work in progress by incorporating WIP (Work in Progress) limits, ensuring optimal efficiency for your team at all times.

The customer service is prompt and effective, adding to the overall positive experience.  Despite the many positives, be cautious of changes to service levels mid-contract. Also, the software’s deactivation of a user account without warning left him perplexed, and the communication around it was not satisfactory.

Pros:

  • Efficient workflow
  • Real-Time collaboration
  • Customizable dashboards

Cons:

  • Customer Support inconsistency
  • Caution needed for service alterations
  • Account deactivation without warning
  • Learning curve
  • Limited reporting

2. Monday.com

monday-portfolio
Monday.com dashboard

Capterra score: 4.6/5⭐⭐⭐⭐

Price: $19 user/month

Monday.com stands tall with an overall rating of 4.6. The overall design is brilliant, and the vibrant colors add a touch of positivity. Its ease of use, flexibility, and functional features make it a product with great service. Tracking the progress of each project is a cakewalk, thanks to its intuitive features. As an end user, the dashboard and interface are not just great but also can be highly customizable to suit your specific project needs.

However, the layout can be a bit perplexing, especially when trying to follow the chain of events within each task. Also, the customization of reports sometimes falls short. Some essential metrics or fields might be missing, and the flexibility of report customization definitely leaves room for improvement.

The tight text areas and limited formatting options make it less than ideal. The default collapse of all boxes doesn’t help in providing a quick overview.

The company I work for pays for the highest tier package available, Enterprise. Despite being a paying customer, Monday.com doesn’t seem to care. I whole-heartedly feel like they do not care about timely responses, nor do they seem to care about followups or responding to emails in general. I have tried requesting help from multiple people, and rather than answer a simple question via email, they eventually respond and tell me, “let’s schedule a call for next week.”…

Pros:

  • Drag-and-drop simplicity
  • Clear task visualization aids
  • Customizable Dashboards
  • Tailored views for teams

Cons:

  • Complexity in layout
  • Overwhelming for new users
  • Limited report flexibility
  • Metrics customization challenges
  • Customer service responsiveness

3. ClickUp

Clickup
ClickUp dashboard

Capterra score: 4.6/5⭐⭐⭐⭐

Price: $10 user/month

ClickUp is the 1st alternative we picked in the world of collaboration tools. With an impressive overall rating of 4.6, it’s clear that many users share this sentiment. The ease of use is a standout feature, and the fact that it operates as a SaaS allows you to jump in and collaborate whenever inspired. ClickUp offers a user-friendly interface and a smooth migration experience. Tracking the progress of client applications is straightforward.

On the other hand, adding new tickets/cards sometimes comes with delays, and some users experience loss of newly added cards. Unwanted reminders can be quite irritating, and there’s a glitch when replying via email, requiring a switch to Discord. The monochrome interface can be a strain on the eyes, especially for those who despise the lack of a dark mode. Occasional clunkiness is offset by its value for money, especially for solo freelancers or small teams.

Pros:

  • Intuitive Interface
  • User-friendly design
  • Powerful Automation
  • Kanban, Gantt, Lists views

Cons:

  • Search functionality
  • Occasionally lacks intuitive precision
  • Mobile app challenges
  • Unwanted prompts can be disruptive.
  • Lack of dark mode

Honestly, everything. I have tried and canceled subscriptions to at least 20 Project/Task management apps (monday/ClickUp/Notion, etc) over the last couple of years and finally found Teamhood.

Teamhood is visually perfect – I find that most of the apps are visually distracting and honestly take too much time to learn and organize. Teamhood allows me to keep complex tasks organized and allows me to use simple or complex Kanban formats which I love. I also love the Note taking feature.

Overall, it’s impeccably intuitive.

Elizabeth P., Executive Reqruiter

4. Trello

trello
Trello dashboard

Capterra score: 4.5/5⭐⭐⭐⭐

Price: $17.50 user/month

The software is highly effective and also visually pleasing. One of Trello’s standout features is its simplicity and ease of use. Trello users are especially positive about attention to detail, such as the ability to assign cards and customize colors. The availability of templates and the constant inspiration from Trello’s blog contribute to the software’s appeal.

The reasonable pricing adds to its attractiveness, making it a great deal.

The absence of a customer version for Linux is a major inconvenience. Additionally, being an online-only application can be limiting. The inability to erase a card and the lack of side-scrolling with the mouse are minor annoyances. The software’s task management system faces challenges, particularly affecting team performance during the operational phase of a project. Typing lengthy comments can be frustrating, especially when there’s a risk of losing everything due to accidentally exiting or minimizing the app.

Pros:

  • Enhances team visibility
  • Flexible task management
  • Allows easy task customization

Cons:

  • May slow down onboarding
  • Overcomplexity risks
  • Difficulty in managing intricate structures
  • Dependency on Technology

5. Asana

asana review
Asana dashboard

Capterra score: 4.5/5⭐⭐⭐⭐

Price: $13.49 user/month

Asana’s clean and intuitive interface provides a comprehensive dashboard. The continuous updates from Asana contribute to its user-friendly nature. The diverse project management methodologies are embodied in this platform. It also provides a great level of flexibility and adaptability.

However, it’s occasionally missing crucial notifications in the inbox until it’s too late. It’s a small inconvenience but one that could potentially be improved to ensure timely updates. Additionally, the initial setup’s default email notifications can be bothersome.

What do you like best about Teamhood?
A free plan which includes all the most required features to work with including list, kanban, easy setup and adoption. A great alternative to Jira, Asana or any other similar task management system. The tool is being constantly upgraded with valuable features.

Vilius P., Head of information technology department

Pros:

  • Improves task visibility
  • Boosts overall efficiency
  • Facilitates real-time updates

Cons:

  • Potential communication overload
  • The learning curve for newcomers
  • Integration challenges with tools
  • Limited customization options
  • Requires consistent team engagement

6. Runrun.it

runrun.it
Runrun.it dashboard

Capterra score: 4.8/5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Price: $10 user/month

Runrun.it offers a great deal of simplicity and functionality and commitment to continuous updates. The frequent enhancements contribute to a dynamic and evolving platform. The real-time interactivity within the software. The time tracking functionality is great, coupled with a user-friendly interface and impeccable organization. While some features may feel a bit chunky, the overall experience remains exceptional.

Navigating the system when a task is marked as “done” can be a tad confusing. Additionally, spending some time on tutorials before diving into the software is recommended, as the initial learning curve might be a bit steep. Occasionally, plugins or features may not function correctly, leading to unexpected interruptions in the timer counter.

Pros:

  • Intuitive interface
  • Time tracking
  • Continuous updates
  • Learning opportunities

Cons:

  • Task ownership can be unclear
  • Occasional plugin malfunctions
  • The calendar interface is awkward
  • Lack of recurring task support

7. Smartsheet

smartsheet
Smartsheet dashboard

Capterra score: 4.5/5⭐⭐⭐⭐

Price: $7 user/month

Smartsheet got an impressive 4.5 overall rating, and here’s why is one of the alternatives to Teamhood. Its ease of use helps navigate through projects with links, and automations are working well. On top of that, it offers simple forms.

Also, Smartsheet offers a Kanban view that closely resembles other platforms. While the Kanban board is customizable with various statuses, it’s worth noting that Smartsheet lacks WIP limits and other essential Kanban features for those seeking to implement this practice.

However, using Smartsheet, you might encounter some Gantt chart and learning curve challenges. Some users miss a clear project definition, and hiding columns can be a bit of a chore. Mistakes happen, but Smartsheet could be more transparent about mathematical slip-ups.

Teamhood solves this issue by offering seamless integration of Kanban and Gantt chart functionalities. The platform allows you to initiate collaborative Kanban sessions with clients and smoothly transition into developing Gantt charts.

Pros:

  • Automation
  • Real-time project updates
  • Customizable workflows
  • Tailor processes to needs

Cons:

  • Potential overwhelm
  • Initial user adaptation time
  • Risk of excessive alerts
  • Limited recurrent tasks
  • Challenges with repetitive workflows

8. Basecamp

basecamp
Basecamp dashboard

Capterra score: 4.3/5⭐⭐⭐⭐

Price: $99 unlimited users

Basecamp, compared to tools like Smartsheet, offers no overwhelming features, just a clean focus. Whether it’s a retro meeting, roadmap planning, or handling projects, Basecamp keeps it straightforward and synced up.

Tool acknowledged for its mobile support. Plus, the pricing is fair, and those hill charts are a visual treat.  It’s hailed as a great task management system, providing excellent visibility for teams. The ease of use is a major selling point.

The main drawback of the tool is its feature limitations. Some users bemoan the lack of certain features across all versions, and the existence of different versions can complicate matters.

No integrations of any kind, no features, no dependencies, and no different ways to view a project… Implementing new features took a long time. It created a lot of manual labor.

Megi D., Marketing campaigns coordinator

Pros:

  • Project visibility
  • Real-time tracking

Cons:

  • Steeper learning curve
  • Limited customization options
  • Potential software integration issues
  • Some features may be redundant

9. Teamwork

teamwork kanban
Teamwork dashboard

Capterra score: 4.5/5⭐⭐⭐⭐

Price: $5.99 user/month

First off, Teamwork has a great customer service team and constantly keep up with feature requests. It is one of the most advanced tools on the list that brings a high level of detail. Plus, the user-friendly interface of Teamwork Projects. Its simplicity meets functionality, making project management enjoyable.

This solution is light but might be tricky for complex processes. The CRM needs a facelift; it’s not living up to its full potential. Lastly, the API – Some users had their share of data ups and downs, which was inconsistent and not the smooth ride as expected.

Pros:

  • Responsive Customer Support
  • Regular New Features
  • Detailed Task Management
  • Effective Remote Collaboration

Cons:

  • Lack of In-Team Chat
  • Underdeveloped CRM
  • Inconsistent API Performance
  • Limited Advanced Workflow Features

10. Accelo

tools for managers
Accelo dashboard

Capterra score: 4.5/5⭐⭐⭐⭐

Price: $24 user/month

With an impressive overall rating of 4.5, this platform has won the hearts of 165 users, and here’s why. One of the main highlights is its front-to-back automation, which efficiently handles critical aspects of operations.  Accelo’s mobile app is worth mentioning. Overflowing with features, boasting a slick interface, and offering an iOS app synced with online software, Accelo integrates smoothly with popular platforms like Xero, Gmail, and Google Calendar.

On the cons side, some users feel it’s a case of biting off more than it can chew. There’s a sentiment that it attempts too much, with mixed success. Too much information can sometimes be a hindrance, especially when generating client reports.

One user, Kim D., had a rocky journey, rating Accelo a 2.0. His experience portrayed it as a problem solver, but not necessarily in a positive light. False advertising claims and lackluster customer service soured the relationship.

Pros:

  • Real-time project visibility
  • Integrates smoothly with popular apps
  • Detailed project plans
  • Mobile app

Cons:

  • Information overload in client reports
  • False advertising claims
  • The steeper learning curve for beginners
  • Limited customization for unique workflows
