Project Online timesheets after the retirement

Project Online timesheets stopped on 30 September 2026. Planner, Microsoft’s main replacement, has no timesheets in its plan comparison. Microsoft points timesheet needs to Dynamics 365 Project Operations, an ERP-grade product. Teams that need hours logged against tasks, and a view of who has time, have simpler options.

How timesheets work in Teamhood

What happens to your old timesheets

Your timesheet history stays in whatever you exported from Project Online. Teamhood imports plans, and it does not import Project Online timesheet history. To keep past hours in Teamhood, load them over the REST API, or keep the export for your records.

Moving time tracking in four steps

  1. Keep the history. Store your Project Online timesheet exports where finance and project leads can find them.
  2. Set up people. Add each person’s working week and time off, so capacity is right from day one.
  3. Bring in the plans. Import your plans from MS Project XML. See how to import Project Online plans.
  4. Start logging. People log time on their tasks. Check the first week’s timesheet with your team leads.

Try it with one team

Bring one project and the people on it. Set their hours, log a week of time, and compare it with what you had in Project Online.

Questions

Does Microsoft Planner have timesheets?
Microsoft’s Planner plan comparison has no timesheet row, for Plan 1 or Plan 3. For timesheet management, Microsoft points to Dynamics 365 Project Operations.
Can we import our Project Online timesheet history into Teamhood?
Not with the plan import. It brings tasks, dates, dependencies, notes and assigned people. You can load past hours over the REST API, or keep your export for the record.
Can Teamhood timesheets be exported?
Yes. Timesheets can be exported, and everything in Teamhood is also readable over the REST API.
Does Teamhood show who has time, as Resource Center did?
Yes, per person. Capacity comes from each person’s working week and time off, and planned hours count across every project. The schedule view turns a day red when someone is over capacity.
What does Teamhood cost?
€5 / $6 per user per month billed yearly, or €6 / $7 billed monthly, from 3 licenses. The first month is free.
